  Gorgeous place with great vibes and wonderful extra touches. Proprietor Michael let me poke around the other rooms when they were between occupants and didn't seem to mind me driving him crazy asking the back story on each of his countless antiques. He knows all the best places for dining - I tried Grazin' Diner (amazing burgers), Hudson Food Studio (very chic), Wm Farmer & Sons (my fave), and Tanzy's (kitschy breakfast joint). On the Saturday I was there I took advantage of the Farmer's Market that takes place half a block from the Guest House and picked up a few extra gourmet ingredients at Olde Hudson grocery, and then took over the HGHouse kitchen in the lovely common area. The train station and riverfront park are walking distance, and the Guest House is located smack in the middle of town on THE main drag. If you are coming from NYC the train is super convenient but you might want to drive because Warren Street is wall to wall antique shops and you are going to stumble on something you can't live without. I found it interesting being there long enough to see the difference between weekdays and weekends. For a tiny town, it is really hopping on the weekends. Do your restaurant research (or ask Michael for help) if you are coming on a weekend and make sure to make reservations if you are going someplace that takes them. But I highly recommend staying an extra day to experience the tranquility of town when it is just the locals during the week, too. There seems to be a lot of weekend music happenings. I'd like to see more theater or film options in town. The old Opera House is undergoing a massive renovation so maybe soon. I'll be back any way around it, thank you, Michael!!!
